We have an officient! Yay! At least we can no actually get married on October 4th. It's something. Even if it were just me and my man with a few guests, it could now actually happen.
It wasn't my first choice (my sis's officient), but it is one that she recommended. One of her friends had this person and he came highly recommmended. Apparently he'll taylor the ceremony exactly how you want it and he will probably meet with us a few times before the wedding to discuss the ceremony and what not. I'm pretty relieved to have this one crossed off. I'm still waiting to hear back from the photographer and the tent rental place though. I've contacted both twice now and haven't had any response. Might be time to look else where for the photographer as that is something that gets booked quickly. I hope not though, because I like this girls style! (her website is www.shutterframe.ca).

The worst bride ever.
So little time also = little time spent doing wedding things. The only thing that has progressed since my last post is that I think I’m going to get the London dress. I am pretty confused about it though. It’s hard because I’m the only one that has seen both dresses. I guess I’m going to have to trust my own judgement.
So yes, little has progressed since my last post almost two weeks ago. I still have nothing booked, and when people ask me how the wedding planning is going it stresses me out.
I have my sisters wedding book here with me at work now so that I can look at stuff over lunch and hopefully start getting some stuff done. On tap today: Phoning the Tent rental place and getting that stuff taken care of. Perhaps, if I have time, I will also call the photographer and or the officiant. We know which photographer we want, we just haven’t talked to her yet.
I had another wedding nightmare last night. This time, it was the day of our wedding and we hadn’t confirmed with the caterer the number of guests we were going to have. I was freaking out because I thought it meant that the caterer wasn’t coming. In real life we don’t even HAVE a caterer arranged yet. I think I will be a bit better when we finally start getting some of this groundwork stuff taken care of.
Does anyone have time to/ want to – plan a wedding for me?

A nice surprise
So another week has gone by and no more wedding planning has been done. Hopefully I can get some stuff done this weekend.
Last weekend was the engagement party my dad through for us. Sarah, Danielle and I planned to go dress shopping in Belleville during the day. Well. My whole family hoodwinked the two of us. Sarah was supposed to meet Danielle and I at the first place, and when she shows up, lo and behold she wasn’t on her own. Kate had flown down from Thunder Bay for the weekend too!
I tried on a bunch of dresses and my favourite of the day was still the one that I posted the picture of below. Hard thing though is that I don’t know how to pick between the two dresses which are separated by 400 km and no one other than myself has seen both dresses. I think I will go and try on the other dress again tonight.
The party itself was great. I got to see a lot of people that I don’t get to see all that often (family friends and what not). Azar and Azin (Arash’s Mum and sister) also got to meet a bunch of family members and friends as well. Apparently they both had a good time, but I didn’t get a chance to talk to them much (Arash and I drove down separately).
Hopefully this weekend I can get the photographer booked and the tents organized.

The Dress
So, other blogging update it is.
Not much on the wedding planning front to speak of. Nej and Cdub came down last weekend to go look at wedding dresses. We went to 4 stores in London, 3 real bridal stores and one that sold bridal dresses but was not a real bridal store.
I had the worst experience with the first store. Oh. My. God. The assistant was Horrible!!! She basically picked up one dress that she thought would look good and decided this was the dress I had to get. It was nice, but not really 100% the look I was going for. Oh that, and it was $1600. I had to ask her to help me do up the dress and provided absolutely no input to how the dress would look once it was bustled. On top of it all, she asked me if I wanted to put a deposit down on the dress that she had picked out for me, “or, if you want you can go have lunch, think about it, and come back this afternoon”. Seriously. She was messed up. I think that even if that WAS my favourite dress (which it was not), I wouldn’t get it now on principal.
The next real bridal store was much better though. The assistant was very helpful, did up dresses, held them tight, pointed out different angles, and different alterations that would be done. She showed me how all the bustles would look and encouraged me to try on the dress that I liked another time… twice! (so I had it on three times altogether) just to make sure that it was the one I like the best. Right now it is between this dress and the one that is similar to the one I posted below. This dress was fitted to about the natural waist and then flared out into an a-line, but not in a pouffy way. It had lace detailing on the front (two vertical stripes down the front and beautiful lace detailing on the back and the train. If also had a “champaign” ribbon around the bodice about halfway between the natural waist line and my breasts. It was strapless with a faint sweetheart neckline. Pretty, elegant and not princess-y with no satin. Meets all of my requirements ;)
I will be going back to Belleville this weekend for the engagement party that my dad is having for Arash and I. On Saturday Danielle, Sarah and I are going to go dress shopping again. I’m hoping that I can go back to the store that the other dress was at, and decide which of the two is my favourite. I hate picking favourites (hence the three brides maids but no maid of honour dilemma – Which by the way was solved by not having a maid of honour. The one that will sign the marriage documents will be the one that is tallest while wearing their intended shoes.) Hopefully I will somehow figure it out. It makes it doubly hard when the two dresses are separated by 400 kms. I can’t exactly try them both on in rapid succession.
Other than that. Need to get myself organized. Oh, and we did our engagement photos! I didn’t post them on here since most people probably saw them on facebook, but I will post the link again for non-facebook people (that is you EK and EL!!!)

I found one of the dresses
The first one I was trying to describe is this
Also, I forgot to mention two other things earlier
1) we took our engagement photos over the weekend. The camera was my D70, the photographer was my BIL, and the setting was the country around my dad's house. I posted the pictures on my facebook in case any of you haven't seen them
2) I have not one, not two, but three wedding related nightmares last night. in one I wasn't ready and the wedding was starting... I was wearing grey converse shoes. in another my hair was half down half up and falling out more by the minute. In the last... well, I don't remember the last, I just rememeber that there was another one.

Wedding Dress Shopping Take 1
So.
I guess you all might want to know about my first wedding dress shopping experience. It was fun. I had a good time.
We ended up only going to two of the stores and one of them was a super quick stop. D had to work at 4 pm, so we needed to get her back to work on time.
At store number 1 I tried on a lot of dresses. And I mean a lot. One annoying thing about that store is that they wouldn’t let you take digital photos for copyright purposes, which I understand, but they had also taken off the designer’s tags off the dresses, so I have no clue what the dresses make and style were so I can’t find them on the internet to show you. Anywho, at that store I saw two dresses that I liked. 1) was the first dress I actually tried on. It was made out of an organza/chiffon material and the top had soft tiers of material overlapping each other. It was strapless and there was a mocha coloured sash at the waist and opened to an a-line skirt. It was pretty simple, but very elegant. Kind of like this
2) was a soft white chiffon dress that had an empire waist embellished with beading. It was technically strapless but had decorative sashes to tie as a halter. They sashes were wide enough that they could be tied as capped sleeves as well.
At the second store there were a few dresses that I liked, but I really can’t remember the details about them, so obviously, they aren’t the dress for me. However, store 2 had dress 2 from store 1 for over $100 less than store one was asking. AND they had the maker and style information. S wrote it down, so perhaps I should ask her for the details to that I can see if I can find it on the internet.

T - 1 year...
So this is it. 1 year from today is my wedding day. Well, hopefully since we have done nothing to organize it yet ;) Mind you, with one year to go I would be VERY surprised if we have trouble booking anything.
As I said on my other blog, this weekend is the start of wedding dress shopping. Fun stuff. So far, I have seen a few dresses I like in the bridal magazines, but honestly, most of the stuff is just not my style. I don't want to wear a big princess dress with a poufy skirt, I think I am more of the simple elegent dress kind of girl.
My biggest dilema these days is who I am going to ask to be my maid of honour. I have no clue. I have three bridesmaids. My two sisters (S and K) and my best friend since Grade 9 (D). I was already Maid of Honour in S and D's weddings. I am probably closer to S than K, but it would be nice for K to get a chance to be a maid of honour, but then again, she lives far away. Like a 2 hour plane ride far. S is a teacher so she won't be able to take any time off before the wedding which rules out a lot of the stuff the maid of honour does in the days leading up to the wedding. (She would be able to make it in the evening though since her school is pretty close to Dad's). And then ther is D, she's like a sister to me, heck, when she got married in 05 MY dad gave her away.
A slightly easier decision was ring bearers and flower girls. Eddie will obviously be the ring bearer and Madison and Kailey with be the flower girls. Maddy will be 5 (holy crap) by then so hopefully she will be able to sheppherd the other two to the front (Kailey will be 2.5 and Eddie will be just shy of his second B-day).
